The Imagine Cup has ended and we're on our way back home. It's been quite an experience, especially for two members of the team who are traveling for the very first time. They got to experience everything that airline travel has to offer.

We had an 8:30AM flight out of Cairo so we had to leave the hotel pretty early, yet we managed to get delayed. After a 4 hour flight, which seemed to pass by very fast, we landed in England. Heathrow to be exact. While waiting for our luggage, the joke was made to one of the first timers that he hasn't experienced real travel until he's slept in an airport with no luggage. That was a self-fulfilling prophecy if there ever was one.

We discovered that our luggage was check through to Jamaica and we had to get comforatble at the airport for the night as we awaited our next flight that would take us into Miami so we could sit and wait for 3 hours before getting to Jamaica. Overall, it was an OK experience. Hopefully, never to happen this way again. =)

Days 4 & 5

The Pyramids of Giza, one of the seven wonders of the world. They are amazing. One can't help but wonder, who is that modern man with all his technology cannot replicate the development of the early Egyptians. Being close to the pyramids is a humbling experience.

The closing ceremony for the Imagine Cup was held at Giza with the pyramids as the backdrop. Words cannot express therefore pictures will be used.....

Day 3

Day 3 started a bit late for us. A few of us somehow managed to stay up until 3:00AM playing video games.

This is the final day of presentations. We went to watch the presentations of the final six. They were good and the judges were brutal. We learnt a lot about what to focus on when developing for the Imagine Cup as well as what to expect from the judges in the future. Yes, I said in the future. Poland here we come!!!!

The rest of the day was spent chilling until Dinner. This was huge. We, that is all the competitors, were hosted on the eighth floor of the mall and treated to an amazing four course meal. Well, I think it was four. Let's just say, we got a lot of food.

After dinner, we decided to go on a hunt for souvenirs. After about an hour of searching the third and fourth floors we found the bazaar section of the mall. This is where you can get Egyptian clothing, paintings, pyramids, etc. We figured we could handle the store-keepers. After all, we're Jamaicans! These guys were good. If one wasn't careful, he'd probably leave with an empty wallet but we managed to get out of there alive =)

We can't wait to see the pyramids tomorrow plus dinner will be held in a park. I'm gonna try and get some shuteye and I'll continue to keep you posted.

Day 2

The day has finally arrived. The day when we see if our project can stand up against all others. The team hadn't received much sleep the night before as we were editing scripts and fine-tuning the software but we were ready. There were a few jitters but they were all gone after a word of prayer.

We were the last to present in our group which included Mexico, Lebanon, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Algeria, and Ukraine. We had twenty (20) minutes to make our mark and we pulled it off with literally seconds to spare but, alas, it wasn't enough to garner us a place in the top twelve (12). Mexico advanced to round 2 and our quest for the Imagine Cup ended but our Egyptian experience hasn't.

Day 1

It's July 3, the first day of the Imagine Cup. The team has somewhat recovered from the long flight and multiple time zones. Two members (won't say Dwayne and Derron) were still on home time so they missed breakfast and lunch because they were sleeping. Ouch! They have adjusted now. They have no choice....

The day's activities include registration, tour and opening ceremony.

The tour was of a major attraction in Cairo, The Citadel. It is an amazing sight. The complex houses about 5 museums and a huge mosque.

The opening ceremony was like none other. It was totally exciting and more importantly, on point. No long and drawn out ceremony here. Fun, casual, directed, specific, that's what it was.

The team has to prepare for competition the following day. Hard work will be put in so as to make it to the top twelve (12) then top (6).

Left Clik lands in Cairo

After leaving Jamaica at 5:30PM on Wednesday July 1, 2009, Team Left Clik arrived in Cairo, Egypt at 1:15AM Friday July 3, 2009. That's pretty much 24 hours of traveling.

The guys are in high spirits and if they fall asleep I hope they'll be able to wake up in time. I don't think that reality that they are in Egypt has kicked in yet. We'll see what happens in a few hours.

RAIN (Resource Access Intelligent Network)

This is our final software idea. Still revolving around targeting poverty and extreme hunger.

A resource management enterprise system based on the .net Platform hosting on the windows azure cloud platform. RAIN will be released as a PaaS (Platform as a Service) system where outside developers can add scripts that manages resources where mathematical reasoning can be used to aid management.

This program will allow small farmers/poor people to use their resources (lands and livestock) in a joint venture with the larger Coorporations. Specifics will be added later.

Provide proper training in job area to go with skill set
